New Weapon Qualities

Additional Weapon Qualities in the battlefields of the 41st Millennium

Area Saturation (X)

There exist weapons that have such a high rate of fire that accuracy becomes a secondary concern. For such weapons, it is more expedient to bombard an area to slay swathes of troops

Instead of attacking normally with a weapon or ability with this Quality, you can perform an Area Saturation attack with a Hard (-20) Ballistic Test

Nominate a square area with dimensions in metres as noted in the parenthesis (X). For example, an Area Saturation of (10) would target a 10 × 10 metre area.

Roll to hit, with a success on the roll meaning every target in the nominated area takes a hit, plus an additional hit for every two extra degrees of success. Those in the area can perform an Evasion action as normal, but at a (-20) due to the saturation of fire

When targeting Hordes, deal Horde damage equal to the Area Saturation rating on every other degree of success. For example, an Area Saturation (10) attack that rolled three degrees of success on its attack would deal 20 Horde damage (10 for the standard success and another 10 for the third degree of success)

When performing this attack, the wielder does not suffer penalties for targeting units with a smaller Size Trait

Armourbane

These weapons are crafted with one objective in mind: Piercing the armoured hides of the strongest foes

Weapons and abilities with this Quality halve the total Armour of targets (before applying Penetration) when dealing damage

As per the GM, certain materials such as Lathe Metal, the Necrodermis of Necrons or even suitably imposing structures may resist this effect

Beam (X)

Carving the ground and foes alike with deadly strokes, certain powers trace lethal patterns in the tapestry of war

When attacking with a weapon or ability with this Quality, starting from the target or a target point, trace a line in metres as noted in the parenthesis (X). On a standard success, all targets and objects under the line are hit by the attack. If intending to hit targets multiple times, the line can be switched back after moving a metre, and the target will take an additional hit on every other degree of success, with a maximum number of hits equal to the number of times the line switched back to them

When aiming at targets with a of Size 6 or higher, the beam can be focused on them, and the attack counts as a Full-Auto attack, with a Rate of Fire equal to the Beam Rating

If attacking Hordes, deal Horde damage equal to the Beam rating for every other degree of success. For example, an Beam (5) attack that rolled three degrees of success on its attack would deal 10 Horde damage (5 for the standard success and another 5 for the third degree of success)

Cognis

While seemingly identical to other weapons in the Imperium, this weapon is unique as its Machine Spirit has been permanently awakened. When the bearer falters, the certainty of iron takes over

When in Overwatch with a weapon with this Quality, add a +20 to all Ballistic Weapon tests when firing in Overwatch

Deflagrate

A property unique to Volkite Weaponry, the name given by the Mechanicus for a class of weapon dating back to the Age of Strife. These weapons possess a killing power surpassing almost every other weapon in their respective caliber. Working in similar processes to a melta gun, it emits a ray of heat powerful enough to cook a power armoured Space Marine alive

Final damage after reduction by Toughness, Armour and other Defences is doubled. This Quality does not apply to Vehicles or other targets that use Structure Points instead of Wounds

If attacking Hordes, final Horde damage is doubled. If the Horde damage would already be multiplied by other abilities or effects, Deflagrate will instead increase the multiplier by 1

Destroyer (X)

Some weapons are so destructive that survival boils down to whether they connect or not, in spite of whatever defences the unfortunate victim may have

If a weapon or ability with this Quality successfully hits or affects a target with a Size Trait equal or lower than the number noted in the parenthesis (X), the target is instantly annihilated regardless of any defence they may have

If the target’s Size Trait is larger than the number, it instead suffers damage normally as noted in the weapon or ability’s second Damage Profile. When facing Hordes with a lower Size Trait, the weapon or ability automatically deals Horde damage equal to the Destroyer rating in addition to other modifiers, such as Blast. This Horde damage is added per hit of the attack

Certain characters or extremely durable objects and vehicles (such as Player Characters, Nemeses, Super-heavy Vehicles, Titans and the like) are affected differently regardless of their Size Trait, as the attack miraculously swerves at the last moment or their robust structure endures blow. Instead of the normal effects, they automatically take Wounds equal to the Destroyer Rating plus the weapon or ability’s first Damage Profile, as well as the effects of a Righteous Fury roll on the Critical Table. The Righteous Fury roll is modified by the difference between the Destroyer Rating and their Size Trait, increasing the result by 1 for every point that the Destroyer Rating is higher. Despite the reduced effect of this Quality on Characters and the like, there is still a very likely chance that they would still perish when struck by such an attack. Such are the grim realities of the battlefields of the 41st Millennium

Examples:

1.) A charging Knight Lancer’s Tempest Warblade successfully connects with an Ork Stompa. Since the Tempest Warblade’s Destroyer Rating of (8) is lower than the Stompa’s Size Trait of (9), it deals damage normally

2.) Targeting the same Stompa, a Knight Crusader takes aim with her Volcano Cannon, successfully striking the Stompa. Since the Volcano Cannon’s Destroyer Rating of (9) is equal to the Stompa’s Size Trait of (9), the Destroyer Quality will affect it. Due to its nature, the Stompa is not instantly destroyed, but suffers automatic damage of 9 (Destroyer Rating) plus 3d10+10 (First Damage Profile), as well as the effects of a Righteous Fury roll of 1d5 on the Titan Critical Hit Table

Fleshbane

With but the smallest cut, these weapons can inflict mortal wounds on any living foe

Weapons and abilities with this Quality ignore the Toughness of targets when dealing damage

As per the GM, depending on the nature of the weapon or the target, they can be resistant or immune to its effects, such as a Necron due to its mechanical construction, or a Daemon being unaffected by a Fleshbane sword that is not Sanctified

Gauss

The Gauss Weaponry of the Necrons are terrifying to witness in action, as molecules and even atoms are ripped apart from the target, peeling armour, skin, sinew and bone with equal ease

All weapons or abilities with the Gauss quality gain the Vengeful (9) quality, as well as automatically confirming all Righteous Fury rolls. Furthermore, any wielder can trigger Righteous Fury regardless of their eligibility otherwise (such as those without Touched by the Fates or by Hordes)

Items created from Lathe Metal are immune to this Quality

When attempting to block an attack from a weapon with the Gauss Quality, Ion Shields gain a +15 to their Field Rating

Helfrost (X)

Terrifying weapons that drain the energy from the surrounding area. The thermal shock of plummeting so quickly to the verge of absolute zero is enough to shatter even the most resilient materials, and can damn unfortunate foes into a glacial prison if they do not break free

When a weapon or ability with this Quality hits a target, they must roll a Strength Test with a penalty of ten times the number noted on the parenthesis (X), failure results in them becoming Immobilized. Failing the test by three or more degrees results in them becoming frozen in place, counting as Helpless.

Furthermore, failure in the test results in suffering (X)d10 Energy Damage, which can only be reduced by Toughness

Soulrazor (X)

Dreaded weapons incorporating the vengeful spirit stones of fallen Eldar, a single blow is enough to split a victim’s soul from its body

When a weapon or ability with this Quality causes a target to suffer Wounds, they must roll a Willpower Test with a penalty of ten times the number noted on the parenthesis (X), failure results in suffering (X)d10 Energy Damage, which can only be reduced by Willpower

Taser (X)

Containing immense potential energy, these weapons discharge instantly on contact, lighting coursing through the unfortunate victim before electrothief prongs harness the power once more

When a weapon or ability with this Quality hits a target, roll a 1d5 and add the value noted in the parenthesis (X). Inflict additional hits equal to the result. This only ever affects the first hit of an attack

Melee attacks do not add the wielder’s Strength Bonus to damage, instead using the value noted in the parenthesis (X)

Tesla

Further proving their technological mastery to the lesser races of the galaxy, the Tesla weapons utilized by the Necrons discharge lightning which seemingly has a mind of its own, arcing to nearby targets even when more conductive surfaces are available

When a weapon or ability with this Quality rolls a 9 or 10 on the Damage Roll, or otherwise incapacitates or kills its original target, randomly choose another target within 5 metres. This target is automatically struck by a single hit by the weapon. These additional hits also have the potential for further hits

When targeting Hordes, roll a 1d10 and deal additional Horde damage equal to the result. On results of 9 or 10, roll an additional die which also have the potential for further hits

Transonic (X)

Transonic blades emit a low, insistent buzz that makes stomachs turn and eyes vibrate in their sockets. When they strike armour, these weapons will adjust their hostile sonic field to match its resonant frequency, quickly slicing right through it and, if the unfortunate target survives long enough, turning even muscle, bone and fat to jelly

Weapons or abilities with this quality increase their Penetration by the amount noted in the parenthesis (X) for every successful hit on a target. If the penetration bonus exceeds the armour of the target, the weapon or ability gains Felling (1), or if this quality is already present, increase it by 1

If another target or object is struck, such as being successfully parried or parrying with the Transonic weapon, the penetration bonus is immediately reset

Necrodermis, warp-forged armour and similarly adaptive materials are resistant to this effect, the penetration bonus resetting at the end of every round

Hordes with this property reset their penetration bonus at the end of every round

Vibro (X)

The uncommon Eldar Vibro weaponry project rising sonic waves that shatter ceramite like clay pots and liquefy internal organs with equal indifference

When a weapon or ability with this Quality inflicts multiple hits on a target, every hit increases the Damage and Penetration values by the value noted in the Parenthesis (X)

For example, a Vibro Blaster (1d10+4; Pen 4; Vibro 1) that inflicts three hits will increase the Damage and Penetration rolls by three, resulting in the improved profile of (1d10+7; Pen 7) for all three hits

If attacking Hordes, final Horde damage is doubled. If the Horde damage would already be multiplied by other abilities or effects, Vibro will instead increase the multiplier by 1
